Tell us Donatella - tell us!!!

Sooooo I am sure all of you Fashionistas already know but we are just this close to Donatella designing for this fall's H&M.

I am so psyched!! Or actually...curious.

Why?

Well we all know the label has been a bit rocky after Gianni's death, and I definitely think the style has changed a  LOT after his passing. There was really a point where I loved buying from Versace, but especially the last two seasons have been kinda off.

But the inside scoops so far look amazing and are making my heart beat faster.

What do you think?

Sucker for LOVE

So yes, every girl is a sucker for Love, and so am I. DUH!

I'm not usually very mushy, but these two videos just really really make my heart melt everytime I watch them.

The modern Romeo and Juliet, with Leo di Caprio and Claire Danes with beautiful background music by Des'ree.

Then, there is the modern equivalent of Romeo and Juliet, which oddly but true, is Twilight.

I think everyone grew up with reading Shakespeare's love stories, sonnets and plays.

I know I did.

Hands down, you have to give it to the man - he is simply the best at writing about love, that even to this day his written works are being read and performed and modernized over and over again.

I really wonder what he must have been going through which brought him into the state of mind that he was in, to have been able to write so greatly on LOVE.

Stephenie Meyer has taken a modern approach at this incredibly binding love between two individuals, as portrayed in Romeo and Juliet, by telling a love story between a human and a vampire.

In this part, which can be seen in the video I posted, you can really tell the emotions Bella is going through, and even if not by a vampire, we have all been broken up with and been in this painful state of being.

The amount of pain, mixed with lust and the strong attraction Bella feels towards Edward....the cold and icy speech he gives to her while breaking up, is just God-awful and heart-wrenching. I can feel my gut churn at the sentence "you're not good enough for me". Bella is so prepared to give up everything for him and doesn't see any worth in her living without him - just like Juliet felt about Romeo - her simple but true words "If this is about my soul - take it, I don't want it without you!" are just a marvelous portrayal at rare and powerful love.

Props to Kristen Stewart for portaying Bella's role so wonderfully and adapting into her character so well.

Enjoy!

Music for the Soul

So I'm feeling a bit mellow lately, just thinking about a lot of things, trying to process life and where I want to go with it...what my next step will be and I just feel really STUCK sometimes.

And I really just ADORE music in moments like this.

Music really gets me in the mood, but every emotion has its own music and when I feel down this is just the perfect playlist to listen to:

The Editors - No Sound but the Wind / Bettie Serveert - Lover I Don't Have To Love / Amy Winehouse - In My Bed / Deftones - Change / The Rasmus - Not Like The Other Girls / Iron & Wine - Flightless Bird, American Mouth / Alexander Desplat - Meadow / Yiruma - Kiss The Rain / Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah / Florence and the Machine - Heavy In Your Arms / Sia - My Love / Lykke Li - Possibilities / Band of Horses - Life On Earth / Billy Joel - Lullaby (Goodnight, My Angel) / Norah Jones - I've Got To See You Again

I listen to this playlist, and seriously....I feel like I'm floating in freedom...a peace of mind.
It's a great feeling. All the emotions I am keeping buried inside just let lose.

Skirt Frenzy

Aaaaahhhh....soooo these skirts I'm about to show you may leave you blind, as they are just so awesome, - so be warned!!!

This purple Gucci is just smooth.
Comfy fabrik, beautiful color, right length.
Superb!
This J Crew crepe tulip skirt adds spice to the classic mini with its cut. I especially love the elastic belt they have with skirts lately cuz they are just so fantastic and makes the skirt feel somehow 'secure' on you.
This Kaufman Franco is reaaally cheeky and playful. When I first looked at it, I thought that it was a bag, but then I was like "woow, it's a skirt!" Definitely a total gamechanger - and love the suede! THUMBS UP!!

This watermelon colored Roksana Ilincic is just fab for a hot summer day.
The color itself is already an eye-catcher, but its light and barely there, - you feel free!
At the same time, it's not the typical skirt. It's asymetrical and its draped.
Aaahhh, I think I'm just a sucker for anything with crepe or drapes.

So I know I say this a lot, but I really do love this.
Why? Well here it is....
I have been looking for a skirt with fluffy flying feathers for - like,- EVER and haven't found one anywhere until I saw this Adam ostrich feathered skirt and my heart just dropped.

GOT TO HAVE IT!!!!!

Ok, this is NOT one of my favorites, but it intrigues me and that's why I had to show it here aswell. It's very interesting. I love these feathers anywhere and I love anything with sequins, but together..?!?
I am not so sure.
It seems a wee bit too much when both are combined. You will probably look like Pocahontas gone glam if you wear it.

No?

XOXO,
C

Baby Dior

So in case you were wondering, well maybe not, but I'll give it to you anyway!

When I say I have been a fashion-junkie since forever, people think I'm just saying it in the rhetoric sense,
but.... NO!

I was actually dead serious. And here is the proof:

My first bathingsuit was of course nothing less than - BABYDIOR!!!!

So this makes me a natural FASHIONISTA!!!!!!

BA-BOOM!!!!

JUMP Suit

I never really liked Jumpsuits until a short while ago...
I don't even remember when and how they started growing on me, but I guess somehow they did, because I find them very uh-la-la!

If you are a bit of a tall woman like me, I think it really does your body justice.

This Gucci jumpsuit is one sexy piece. At 1,500 $ a piece, it is well worth the money spent on it I think. It's black, it's silk and has a beautiful belt that dangles down the waist very casually. Simply ->      L-O-V-E it!!!!

This is definitely not just a jumpsuit, but it is a PLAYsuit. Yes, that's right. And oh boy, what a playful playsuit it is!!! Just looking at it makes me go all mooshy and aaahhh inside....
Sooo damn beautiful this nude silk-crepe playsuit from Haute Hippie.

This tube 3.1 Philip Lim jumpsuit is also absolutely gorgeous !!!

Short Story

As the summer is about to commence and its flashing heat waves will reach us in no time, it is time to share a short story.

“There once was a girl, who didn’t know what to wear, until she met the right pair of – shorts!”

Shorts are a call of freedom for the summer to look glam day and night, more comfy than skirts as you can move and sit without worrying about any peek-a-boo flashing moments and  have a tremendous edge of sexiness to them.

So as I was rading around for some glam shorts for the summer, I came across these beauties and just HAD to show my picks:

These watermelon-colored Antik Batik shorts are fabolous to wear all summer long during the day and shine up your day.
I really really love Isabel Marant so friggin much! She does the casual-sexy look the best.
Rock these with her glam boots and hot damn!!!! Heads will turn!!

I love the bow belt and the high waist on these lamé shorts from Thread Social. Always looks good with a plain white tank and some chic sandals or stilettos underneath.

SO this is probably my fave, because well, as it is, I just looove anything with sequins because it just really glam up anything!

I want to wear these TIBI shorts when I go out in the summer with some sexy stilettos!!

OMG! I can’t even find the words how damn cool this silk sarong from Willow is!!

Sarongs are like THE alternative to wear in the morning and then continue until the night.

XOXO,
C

Goodbye, Christophe!!!

So, as you all probably already know, Balmain has parted ways with master-designer Christophe Decarnin.

Having worked as creative director at Balmain for 6 years, the man was truly a GOD who spiced up Balmain and gave it a new twist.

He brought back shoulder pads and military jackets, funked it up with studs and stones and loooots of leather goodies!!!

Balmain is no new brand, but it has become one of my fave brands during Christophe's Creative Director days.....

He definitely brought sexy rock chick back and will always keep his place in my heart.

So, here's to Christophe:

Band-Aid

You know you got one piece of hot mama body when you can rock one of these Hérve Léger Signature babies.

Not everyone can rock a bandage dress, but Hérve ain't designing for everyone.

So there are some ladies out there who are at war with themselves and would still wear it when they were 100 kg.

Come on girls, keep your hands off the candy-bar and do the dress some justice!!!

Blake hunny, show them girls what I meaaaannn!!!

Congrats girl, you look smokin hot!!!!

The Top 10

So we all have a bunch of clothes hanging in our closet.

BUT what’s really important is that we all have those 10 itty-bitty Essentials hanging there as well. If you don’t, well, - just hurry to it!

What are those Top 10 Essentials? Glad you asked, cuz here they are:

  1. The Little Black Dress – Also known shortly as the LBD is designed to be a versatile, affordable and elegant style 911 that you can wear anytime and anywhere. Why is it so great?
Well. Well. First of all, it’s BLACK. It’s one of my all-time favorite colors. And yes, I kow black is not a color in scientific terms, and it’s actually a shade bla bla… Whatever!
It makes you look slimmer. Now take that and find something to say. You can dress it up at night by wearing fabulous pumps and accessorizing it and dress it down during the day to look business-casual. Bingo!

The Little Black Dress (notice I capitalize the first letter, because that’s just how awesome the LBD is!) is a Revolution. Yes, you heard it right – a Revolution.
It has a history like no other. Its origins go back to the 1920’s to the Queen of this Fashion World, who is nobody else but Madame Coco Chanel. It revolutionized when it appeared in American Vogue magazine in 1926 and quickly became known as “a sort of uniform for all women of taste”. Aaaand she nailed it!
Of course let’s not forget Hollywood femme fatales and Audrey Hepburn’s black number in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Simply gorgeous!
So here was a little fashion history to those of you who think of the LBD as just a piece of clothing.
Oh kids, it’s so much more than that….

  1. Blazer – Aaahh. Such a genuine piece of clothing and such a game-changer!
It is actually something sooo basic, but it really is up to you to let it be basic or not. There are a 100 different types of blazers out there, literally. But what is the main difference between a suit-jacket and a blazer? Well for starters, it is cut more casually, is usually lighter in fabric and almost always has metal buttons, which makes it more sporty than a suit jacket. It could, however, also be more extravagant than a suit jacket, especially evening blazers.
I think that the main difference is that it can be worn in a variety of ways. It can be worn with a shirt, or a blouse or even a fancy top. Either way it is a life-saver, as it can be combined so easily.
What’s best is to wear one that properly fits your shape. Always remember that it should follow your silhouette and accent the curves at our waist.

Try this sexy Thomas Wylde blazer for example:

And here is a little humor from Barney Stinson!! Love the guy!

  1. Trench Coat – You know when it’s fall, the ground is covered with colorful leaves, the sky is blue the sun is peeking through the clouds now and then but it’s not really warm anymore? When summer hasn’t abandoned town completely, but winter hasn’t arrived either? Aaah…autumn! Don’t you just love it? You’re completely dressed up and ready to leave the house, then right when you check for your coat you are baffled, because a coat would be too much? That’s when the trench coat comes in.

A shout-out to all the officers during the First World War (may they rest in peace, of course!) who have helped develop this cult. Whilst it remained fashionable still post-war, great minds such as Burberry have got to be acknowledged, as the brand is most famous for its iconic trench coat. Long live Thomas Burberry!
  1. Dress Pants – Although I hated dress pants until a short while ago, I am (sadly) aware of its importance in our every-day lives. It is definitely important and a necessity if you are working in a corporate company with a business dress code.
I (fortunately) am working in a corporate company, and (un-fortunately) need to wear dress pants to work as well. Yikes. I still don’t love it, but I have learned to live with wearing them. But usually I cheat and just wear a dress anyway – ha ha!
But besides work, it is important for wearing to other formal purposes.
Just get yourself a pair, preferably in black. The necessity will occur, trust me, where you will have to own a pair.
L
  1. Classic shirt – I am not even going to indulge on this one too much, because if you do not own a classic shirt (black, white, grey, whatever…) – I don’t know what the hell you are doing.
Seriously, I’m actually curious. Is there anyone out there who does NOT own a classic shirt?
Go to H&M, get yourself a pair, in every color, and one more thing – wait, what was it? Oh yea, - SHAME ON YOU!!!
  1. Jeans – God Bless American culture and Levis Strauss since 1873 for freeing women from the sexist view that they can only wear skirts and dresses. What an innovatory move! Yes, we love wearing skirts and dresses, but a world without jeans? Would be like sucking the color out of life! Levis is definitely still continuing in being the master in the world of denim comfort, especially its last line of Curve ID is the shizz. GO! GO! GOOO!

  1. A Dress – Every woman should have at least two dresses in their wardrobe for two occasions; one for the day, and for going out in the evening.
There are great alternatives for day-dresses according to where you are going to wear them. If you are just hanging out with your friends, there are great varieties at affordable brands such as Mango, Zara and H&M always. Personally I love wearing fluttering dresses during the day as well, since they give me freedom and air to breathe. I also adore a sleek, elegant dress to make women feel empowered in the male-dominated working world (of course this goes for people who do not work in the fashion industry!)
But you should always have a sexy mini dress ready to go in your wardrobe to wear when you are going out. Girrrl – show some leg!
  1. Top for any Occasion – Try finding a cheeky alternative that you can wear under a jacket / blazer and look somewhat respectable in without going all out and then when you take the jacket off as the hours proceed ; va – va – vroom!
It should either show a little décolleté cleavage or have some back cleavage. Depends on what is your most attractive physically attractive attribute that you can flaunt. Don’t do both – that’s just annoyingly hideous and screams ‘I want to get laid’. Or try one that has a really interesting design or color or has sequins.
That’s what I would call “dress to impress”.
  1. Skirt – As necessary as owning pants. Whether it’s a mini or a pencil skirt, pleated or bell-shaped or a maxi-skirt; which I think is definitely making a come-back – it’s a must-have item every woman should own. Although, in Scotland I guess it’s a unisex thing with men wearing them as well – cheekaayyy!!! J

Spike Sensation

It's like I just died and woke up in Heaven.

Leather Jackets - lifesavers!!!

Thank you to the 80's... to The Ramones and Prima Donna...to Metallica and a special thank you to PUNK!!!!

Without you there would be no ripped jeans, no tight pants, no spiked hair, no studs and spikes, but most important of all - there would be NO LEATHER JACKETS!!!

Yikes.

Imagine a world without leather jackets... Can you? I definitely can not!

It would be like taking all the spice out of the joy. No fun. No color. No casual. No rock. No 'cool'.
In fact, the word 'cool' probably wouldn't even exist if leather jackets did not exist.

You know there are those days sometimes where you are going out with your friends, nothing special, no biggy, but you still want to look casually glam? Like you barely tried to look fab, but you just did anyway? You already have your jeans and your shirt on and you stand in front of your warderobe trying to find the missing ingredient?
Then you fish for your leather jacket, put it on and - BOOM goes the dynamite!
Voila! Now you can leave the house...

Designers have found a way to re-interpret leather jackets in so many funky ways, it is impossible to take your pick. There are so many different versions of this rock-chic accessory (and yes, leather jackets are an accessory!) you have to find your fave.

But here are some of mine:

The ravishing Balmain jacket (at net-a-porter) ;
http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/115309

The most a-m-a-z-iiiiiiii-n-gggg studded leather jacket by Burberry Prorsum.
I think I'm in LOVE!!!!! Good Gracious....

Ufff. I think those two already knocked my head unconcious.

Sigh.

Holding On

We all have a pile of clothes hanging around in our closet. Some new, some old. Some we don't know what to do with and some that we have not worn in ages, but are still keeping in our closet - just in case the style will come back.
Bravo!
I applaud those who still cling to those itty bitty pieces we can not let go of.
Because guess what?
The trend always comes back.
Look at the fashion world - it is all but a never-ending cycle that keeps revolving and coming back to point A again
Of course, not in the same way, as it also renews itself. A new spice is added everytime.

Look at the 80's. Did they ever go away? Nope. And we don't want it to, because - girls just wanna have fun! But please keep your dose of 80's to a minimum, because if you exceed the limit - well...let's just say, that's so Courtney Love!

Look at the 70's. Yes, make Love not War. But besides that...I love seeing girls rocking the hippie look. Blonde hair with a beachy tan, floral dresses..tiny shorts with leisure boots under it, tanks and vests on top. YES! That's what I'm talking about.
Check out H&M's new season campaign they are also launching on their website under http://www.hm.com/.
Gisele is rocking the Flower Power!

Anyway. My point here is to enlighten those who feel the need to throw clothes away. DON'T!!!
You will be sorry.
Don't have room? Ok ok...there are some things you can throw away. But only some.
Like the grunge shirt of your favorite band that has faded through all the washing -->out!!!
The jeans that are 3-4 sizes too small, but that you keep in hope that you might still...sometime...in the future...maaaybee fit into them again. No hunny, not going to happen --> out!!
The sneakers you have worn a 100 times and the front has busted up and your toe is peeking through --> what the hell are you thinking??? Out!!!

Things you should never ever ever ever ever throw out though, are;
  •  a classic jean jacket
  • white pants for the summer
  • a leather biker jacket
  • the classic black mini
  • black stilettos
  • the jeans that make your butt stand out the best
  • a sequined party-dress
  • an evening gown
  • your bags (totes,clutches,big bags,small bags - I don't care!)
If I catch anyone throwing away one of the above, I'm going to slice and dice!

My mother made this mistake. A reaaaallly stupid mistake.

So I look at old photo-albums of my mother and what do I see? She is wearing harem pants, blazers with shoulder pads, giant earrings, over-sized pullovers...and I'm thinking: YES!!! Woohoo, I know where my style sense is coming from.
So I ask her: "Where are your old clothes mom?"
"Which old clothes?"
"The ones you were wearing...here in the pictures!"
"Oh those? I threw them away ages ago!"
I sniff a little bit, my lower lip starts trembling. Tears start welling up in my eyes.
"W-w-w-what? Even your wedding dress?"
"Yea, totally!"

Uuuurrggh *crush something*

See what I mean? Be senseful people. Like Diesel tells you;
Smart listens to the head. Stupid listens to the heart.
<3

Oh and yea, the main point I almost forgot: RECYCLE!!!

perspective.

So, as it is, here I am.

Since diary-entries are so last century and blogs are the alternative I am in on this baby as well.
First blog. Probably going to be the worst one.
I promise there will be better ones, - with time.

I am just a crazy monster who loves fashion since the day I climbed out of my mother's womb and started breathing in this world of color.
Yes, since then. Really.

I looove looove loooove fluffy, barely-there dresses, sequins, grunge, bohemian and yes, I love chocolate. I'm a sinner.
My style cannot be defined, as it depends on my mood, and God knows that can change!

So, as Douglas would say - Come in and find out! ;)
